- PublicationNanovehicles and boron clusters(01-01-2022)
;Pathak, Kriti ;Saha, KoushikBoron clusters are recognized as good building blocks for the fabrication of nanoscale objects or nanovehicles particularly due to their remarkably planar and quasi-planar geometries over a wide range of dimensions (Bn- and Bn; n till 40). Moreover, recent reports on their role towards the development of organometallic radiopharmaceuticals, anticancer therapeutic agents as well as boron sources in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), have identified these clusters as motifs with scope for exploitation in medicinal chemistry. In recent years, boronated nanocars, turnstiles, switches and springs have shown promise as molecular machines and sensors. This chapter gives a brief account of different one-dimensional (1D), 2D and 3D boron clusters along with the recent developments in their role as sophisticated synthetic boronated nanovehicles. - PublicationPolyhedral Metallaboranes and Metallacarboranes(01-01-2022)
;Kar, Sourav ;Pradhan, Alaka NandaThis chapter deals with metallaborane, metallacarborane and some unique metallaheteroborane clusters covering the years from 2005 to early 2021. Single cage polyhedra, starting from small 4-vertex clusters to large 16-vertex clusters are discussed. Apart from single cage clusters, many condensed clusters have also been discussed. This chapter describes the syntheses, characterizations, structural features, electron counts, and reactivities of these polyhedral molecules. - PublicationGroup 5 Metal-Metal Bonds(22-06-2015)
; Roy, Dipak KumarMetal-metal bonds are found in wide varieties of dinuclear and polynuclear species with or without bridging ligands. This chapter reviews the synthesis, structure, and reactivity of distinct group 5 metal-metal bonded dinuclear and coordinatively unsaturated organodimetallic complexes. In spite of a large amount of work in the area of divanadium compounds-preparation, nonorganometallic metal-metal bonded divanadium complexes are limited due to the absence of suitable metal-metal bonded divanadium precursors. The area of niobium hydride chemistry continues to be an extremely important area. It has been observed that hydrides, supported by bulky aryloxo ligands, catalyze homogenous hydrogenation of arenes. The field of hydride complexes of Ta is a prosperous area in organometallic chemistry. Recent progress has shown that electrophilic mono-and binuclear tantalum hydride complexes are capable of reducing CO and N2, whereas the alkyl/aryl complexes are important in organic and organometallic chemistry. - PublicationOrganometallic chemistry and catalysis of transition metal-borane compounds(07-08-2018)
