Abstract
The large-scale experiments were conducted on a quasi-prototype vertical seawall attached with recurve in a large wave flume (GWK) with the slope of 1:10 to the study the breaking wave impact on the structure. Recurves are either curved parapets or walls with entirely curved seaward faces that are effective in reducing wave overtopping without increasing the crest height of the structure. The nondimensionalized impact pressure is plotted along the depth and compared to three recurves and breaking cases. The impact pressure and horizontal impact force compared with traditional theoretical design methodologies like Goda, Minikin, and Blackmore & Hewson’s methods and the variations are reported. Pressure measurements obtained from tactile sensor/pressure pad are compared with a traditional pressure transducer.
