Criteria for computer-aided form evaluation

This paper deals briefly with the concept of form measurement and brings out the different criteria for form evaluation of engineering surfaces. A new criterion based on the minimum average deviation has been suggested. The geometrical forms, namely straight line, circle, plane, and cylinder, are analyzed. Simple numerical examples are included in this paper to illustrate the different methods. © 1991 by ASME.
