Synthesis and characterization of some polyazo(amide-imide)s

Polyazo(amide-imide)s were synthesized from N,N′-bismethylolazobenzenetetracarboxylic diimide and various dinitriles. The polycondensation were carried out in conc. sulphuric acid. The viscosities of the polymers ranged from 0.9-1.1 dl/g. The polymers were characterized by i.r. and 1H-NMR. The solubility, density, crystallinity and thermal stability of the polymers were also examined. © 1992.
