Abstract
An approach jetty is a structure, which connects the shore and the offshore structures and is subjected to both vertical and lateral loads. The bending moments in the jetty structure are generally greater than the cracked moment, in which case the effective moment of inertia should be considered instead of the gross moment of inertia. This paper describes the development of a finite element analysis program SAP-2 using iterative procedure to incorporate the nonlinear-soil-structure-interaction, second order P-Delta effect and effect of cracking. A case study on a typical pile bent is also presented.
