Abstract
Hollow blocks are a suitable form of construction in the Indian construction industry, with the advantage that their airspace provides insulation. This work describes the characteristic features of sound transmission through hollow block walls. In this study three different thickness of hollow block were built and their respective sound reduction indices were observed. Some aspects of the sound reduction index are discussed with respect to these blocks.
