Abstract
The switched-capacitor (SC) based multilevel boost inverter with common-ground is gaining more interest in photovoltaic applications. It features high power density, boosted output voltage, low total harmonic distortion (THD), low cost, high efficiency, and zero leakage current. However, the output voltage level of existing common-ground-based topologies is either restricted to nine or uses more number switches to generate a higher number of levels. This paper proposes a novel 11-level switched-capacitor-based inverter topology that features common ground between source and load. The proposed topology is capable of achieving five times voltage gain and has self capacitor voltage balancing capability. Further, the proposed inverter is compared to the existing inverter topologies to demonstrate its superiority. The proposed inverter is simulated for inductive load, change in source voltage, change in modulation index, and change in load. and the results for the same are shown.
