Abstract
Sodium sulphate, ammonium sulphate, sodium chloride, malic acid and urea are granulated in a batch fluidised bed under different experimental conditions. The granule growth is found to follow first-order kinetics, with the growth coefficient being principally influenced by the concentration and the flow rate of the solution, the initial charge of the material and the material characteristics. The temperature of the fluidising air and provision of a mechanical stirrer in the fluidised bed have marginal influence on the growth rate of granules.
