Abstract
The paper describes the development, design and construction of a special purpose transformer analogue computer for mechanizing the computations involved in drawing the log-magnitude and phase angle plots of a servo system. Those plots, known as Bode plots, are extremely useful in designing compensators for control systems (Chestnut and Mayer 1959). The unique feature of the Transformer Analogue Bode Simulator (TABS) described in this paper is that the same units serve both for the measurement of magnitude as well as phase angle of the frequency response, it is believed that the concepts introduced in this paper are significant contributions to the transformer analogue principles first suggested by Blackburn (1937). © Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
