Abstract
A generalized approach to reactive power management in AC transmission lines for maximum power transfer limited by voltage stability is considered. The transmission line is represented by its π-equivalent model. Use of controlled shunt compensation and series and shunt compensation schemes are separately analysed for different load models and supported with illustrative examples. The voltage constraints are also taken into consideration during the design of compensation schemes. © 1995.
