Abstract
In a tidal power plant, the hydraulic machine has to perform four modes of operations, mamely those of a turbine and a pump in both normal and reversed directions of flow. A symmetrical 'S' cambered blade profile is found to be suitable for all the four modes of operations. Cascade characteristics of four different 'S' blade profiles are presented in the paper.
