Synthesis and characterization of polyazo(amine†imide)s

Aromatic polyamine‐imides were synthesized from N,N′‐bismethylolazobenzenetetracarboxylic diimide and various diamines. Polycondensations were carried out in DMAc containing 1% water. The linear polyamine‐imides obtained varied in color and had inherent viscosities in the 0.25–0.35 dL/g range. These polymers were characterized by physical and thermal methods.
