Study of the performance characteristics of an ultrasonic drilling head

A magnetostrictive transducer head for a vertical ultrasonic drilling machine was fabricated from available electroplating type thick nickel sheets. Special Gaussian type and exponential horns as suggested by Eisner and Seager [1] were also developed. Performance in drilling operations of the completed drill using the horns are discussed. © 1975.
