Abstract
The estimation and power spectral analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) was studied for the management of cardiac arrythemia. Two minutes of ECG Data (12 arryhthmic subjects) for the estimation of HIF were obtained from MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. The estimation procedure was initiated with low pass filtering the ECG data which was originally sampled at 360Hz, and down sampled to 4Hz. The results of the clinical evidence of the depressed HRV with signs of sympathetic overdrive and decrease in vagal activity provide a reliable predictor of mortality after myocardial infarction.
