Abstract
The Kerr Constant has been measured in four binary systems of acetonitrile in acetophenone, benzaldehyde, ethyl methyl ketone and acetone. The systems acetonitrile-acetone and acetonitrile-ethyl methyl ketone show small deviation from additivity. A strong non additivity was observed in acetonitrile-acetophenone and acetonitrile - benzaldehyde mixtures. The observed non-additive nature of Kerr constant with molar fraction was found in good agreement with the mean-field theory. © 1991.
