Study on honing of plasma sprayed ceramic coatings

Since the plasma sprayed ceramic components find wider industrial applications, precision machining of them is being considered very important today. Honing, being one of the precision machining processes, has been carried out on plasma sprayed oxide ceramic coatings. From the experimental study, optimal honing pressure, roundness error and surface finish of honed ceramised surfaces have been estimated. Both SEM analysis and bearing area analysis have been carried out and studied.
