Abstract
Experimental investigations have been carried out to study the possibility of determining residual stresses developed during air cooling in a conventional ceramic. The results indicate that Vicker's Indentation method can be successfully used not only to evaluate the fracture toughness but also the surface residual stresses developed during air cooling of the ceramic material.
