Abstract
An investigation is made of the reasons for failures in ball mills near the junction between the mill end wall and the bearing trunnion. The analysis is based on the three-dimensional theory of elasticity using the dynamic input pressures obtained from practical ball mills. The influence of the semicone angle of the mill end wall on the strength is also studied.
