Abstract
Wave energy has received considerable attention in recent years. The aim of this paper is to discuss methods of determination of the optimum moment of inertia and real-time control strategy of active power fluctuations of such wave energy operated grid-connected induction generators. From given data of axial air flow velocity variations, the quality of power fed to the grid can be predicted. An index of power quality can be the ratio of peak active power to average active power (PPAP). This paper illustrates the dynamic analysis of the turbine-generator system by means of a modular block diagram approach using SIMULINK and its optimization through the optimization and nonlinear control design (NCD) toolboxes of MATLAB.
