Power Quality Assessment for an Industrial Plant

Abstract
Due to increasing use of sensitive equipments, the power quality (PQ) requirements are becoming of great significance to avoid equipment malfunctions connected in low voltage distribution network. Hence it is important to know the level of these PQ disturbances and understand their root cause in order to find the mitigating solutions at distribution level and also input to equipment manufacturer to improve their product design. For the study carried out in this paper, a power quality monitoring equipment was installed at an industrial site to record the data. The observed PQ parameters are analyzed and presented in detail. Observed PQ parameters are compared with relevant standards to understand their severity levels. Simulation study has also been carried out to understand the causes of power quality issues.
