Abstract
Dielectric properties of some aromatic polyamides have been studied. Six of them were prepared in this laboratory using standard methods, and these were characterised using various well known techniques. The variations of epsilon' and epsilon'' with temperature and frequency have been studied. The values of epsilon' and epsilon'' decrease with frequency and increase with temperature and show a peak as a function of temperature. The variation of epsilon' with temperature or frequency is similar to that of epsilon'' in most of the cases. No peak was observed in epsilon' or epsilon'' as a function of frequency, at any temperature. The relaxation frequency exists at still lower frequencies.
