Abstract
The influence of geometric non-linearity on the stress-intensity factor for a centrally cracked plate subjected to uniformly distributed load is studied. The bending and stretching stress-intensity factors have been derived by strain energy release rate technique. It is found that the bending stress-intensity factor varies in a non-linear fashion as load increases for large deflections of the plate and the resulting in-plane stretching of the plate introduces a stretching stress-intensity factor. © 1982.
