Abstract
Based on the metallurgical observations made and the results obtained on factors contributing to closure, fatigue crack closure mechanism maps have been constructed with well defined boundaries for the materials AISI 4330 steel. Armco iron and a Ni-Cr free austenitic stainless steel.
