Demonstration of Mode Dependent Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Graded-Index Few Mode Fibers

In this paper, we report the experimental investigation of the stimulated Brillouin scattering interactions in a few mode optical fiber. Through an appropriate excitation of combination of the optical modes in the FMF, we find that the SBS beat spectrum exhibits features corresponding to the interaction of the optical modes with the fundamental and higher order acoustic modes in the fiber.
