A Data- driven Evaluation of Utilization and Connectivity in WiFi Deployments

In this work, we evaluate and report network utilization and connectivity issues in WiFi deployments with data collected from 100s of access points. We study AP-client session data, such as the association start time, association end time and average SNR (of the session), collected from four enterprise WiFi deployments in India over a period of 45 days. We analyze the session data to characterize the spatio-temporal utilization of the WiFi deployment and connectivity/ coverage anomalies in the network. The insights derived are useful in various aspects of cell planning, radio resource management and network management.
