Abstract
Both flexural and longitudinal modes of vibration in an arbitrary shaped pyroelectric solid cylinder of crystal class 6 is considered. The surface of the cylinder is traction free, earth connected and thermally insulated. To satisfy the boundary condition at the irregular outer surface Fourier Expansion Collocation method is applied. Frequency equation has been derived for general cross section for both symmetric and antisymmetric modes of vibration. The frequency equation is analysed numerically for class (6 mm) for cylinders with elliptical and cordioidal cross section as all material constants for class 6 are not available. Material constants of Barium Titanate ceramic are taken for numerical calculation. The results are given in the tables and also presented graphically.
