Abstract
Broaching is a widely used mass production process. The cutting tool called the broach is a special tool which has different sets of teeth for performing roughing, finishing and burnishing operations. There is a need to investigate the broaching process experimentally as well as analytically to find out the influence of various parameters on surface integrity and accuracy. Experiments have been carried out to study the influence of various broaching parameters like rake angle, broaching speed and length and thickness of the workpiece on surface finish and bore dimension of the workpiece and the cutting force. The data obtained by the experimental investigation are utilised to formulate empirical relationships by using regression analysis.
