Abstract
The present investigation deals with valve stoppers (inlet and delivery) in a compressor subjected to repetitive shock pulses where the force acts for a very short period of time (of the order of 10-6 seconds). Static analysis to this kind of problem results in very low stress value. To capture the real time stresses it is necessary to carry out dynamic analysis. In this paper, valve stopper (both delivery and inlet) which forms part of reciprocating air compressor subjected to force for a very short period of time is analysed. Transient dynamic analysis is carried out using mode superposition method to validate the experimental findings.
