Abstract
The bandwidth and reliability requirement has become stringent with the rapid development of connected devices. In the industry network, with multiple Wi-Fi access points available, selecting the appropriate band for better channel utilization is very important. The emergence of Wi-Fi 6E, an extension of Wi-Fi6, allows more wireless devices to be connected by adding the 6GHz band and enables a more stable and faster network. However, the problem of optimal band selection remains, and new considerations, such as power restriction, must adhere. In this paper, we verify the parameters correlating the network selection and propose a novel 6 GHz band selection method by the User Equipment (UE). In the case of channel utilization (CU), the value variation range is extensive; hence, it is difficult to apply the CU value during the connection time continuously. Therefore, our proposed algorithm considers an optimal section of the 6GHz band unaffected by the CU. Our experiments prove that predicting the relative quality of other bands corresponding to the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of each 6 GHz band is possible. A better selection can improve the end-to-end throughput and latency of the UE.
