Abstract
The mean velocity and turbulence flow field generated when an axisymmetric jet impinges on a rotating sphere is investigated. In addition to the curvature effects of the spherical surface, the flow field is influenced by the rotational effects. Particularly the turbulent normal and shear stress components are seen to be considerably affected by rotation. The results presented are compared with those for jet impingement on a stationary sphere. © 1988.
