Abstract
This paper presents the microstructure, texture and mechanical properties of a 70% unidirectionally hot rolled metastable beta-titanium alloy Ti-5Al-3.5Mo-7.2V-3Cr. The alloy displays two-phase microstructure consisting of fine alpha phase within the beta matrix. The presence of the alpha phase within beta matrix retards the recrystallization kinetics. Texture of the beta phase displays both the deformation and recrystallization texture components. Tensile properties along three specimen directions exhibit the mechanical properties anisotropy. The strength parameters and elongation are maximum along transverse and rolling directions, respectively. The yield locus plot obtained by Knoop hardness method also displays the presence of moderate anisotropy. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
