Abstract
Transform coding has been generally accepted as one of the methods for data compression. In all these transforms, data vector is mapped into a new plane and the elements with minimum variances in the transformed domain are discarded to get data compression. In this paper, a rectangular transform is defined for a given data compression. Two types of kernels are used for processing a test signal. The results clearly indicate that the method is very effective in many fields of application. © 1983.
