Abstract
The advances in electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) have been rapid and are well documented. 1-3 The recent trend is to digitally store the speckle patterns in a host computer and process them.4-5 This technique is called digital speckle pattern interferometry (DSPI). As the data are available in digital form, there is more flexibility in handling the data. To automatically process the data available in the form of fringe patterns, the fringe centers have to be located. It has been pointed out that the process of fringe center determination is tedious and quite difficult in speckle interferometry. © 1988, Optical Society of America.
