Experimental studies on plate anchors in layered marine soils

In this paper, the behaviour of plate anchors buried in a two-layered marine clayey deposit has been brought out. The experimental investigations were carried out in three phases, viz. plate anchors in homogenous clayey beds, plate anchors in medium stiff clayey bed overlain by soft clayey bed overlain by medium stiff bed. In the case of plate anchor buried in medium stiff clayey bed overlain by soft clayey bed, the behaviour is explained in terms of shallow and deep anchor conditions. In the case of plate anchor buried in soft clayey bed overlain by medium stiff clayey bed, it is found that movements are quite large.
