Abstract
Quenching of fluorescence of six substituted naphthalenes by inorganic anions have been studied. The quenching is dynamic with the involvement of electron transfer from the anion to the fluorophore in the quenching process. The free energy (Delta G) and the activation energy (E(a)) of the electron transfer step has been estimated. Attempt is made to correlate the efficiency of quenching with these parameters.
