Abstract
The room temperature electrical conductivities of pristine polyaniline (PAni), its blend with PMMA (polymethyl-methacrylate) in the ratio 2: 3 and PAni extracted from the blend were found to be 18, 29 and 73 S/cm, respectively. The temperature dependence of conductivity was also found to differ markedly: for the extract and the blends it is weakly temperature dependent over the interval 300-1.2 K. Reduced activation energy versus temperature plots showed that, while the unblended PAni is on the insulating side of the M-I transition, the blends and the extracted PAni are on the metallic side. The magneto-conductivity (MC) of the extracted PAni is discussed in terms of localization and Coulomb interaction effects. © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
