Abstract
A finite element model (FEM) based on Galerkin technique is used for the analysis of watershed direct run-off problem in two dimensions. Laboratory experiment is conducted over a small impervious catchment to simulate the watershed run-off in two dimensions. The experimental and numerical results are compared and presented in the form of hydrographs. Spatially varied rainfall is also used as input and tested in experiments as well as in the numerical model. Numerical solution is attempted by using two-dimensional full equations of motion as well as kinematic wave approximation.
