Abstract
The concept of semicircular breakwater (SBW) is one of the recently emerging special type of composite breakwater. The SBW function as a barrier dissipating the incident wave energy and to create tranquility on its leeside. The dynamic pressures due to regular waves exerted on the seaside of a SBW with 7% of its exposed surface area with perforations were measured. The variations of dimensionless pressures for three different water depths are presented and discussed in this paper. In addition, the reflection characteristics of the perforated SBW as a function of scattering parameter, ka are reported. The results on the above stated variables for a seaside perforated SBW are compared with the results for an impermeable SBW.
