Abstract
The present reflects the dynamics and conditions that built sustainable development, environmental sustainability, social equity, and climate change. Sustainable urbanization includes environmental, socioeconomical, and institutional factors growth and development of city. This chapter includes the environmental factors that need to consider for urban development. The complexity of urban structure brings considerable changes to the urban atmosphere, micrometeo-rology, and dispersion conditions in a significantly considerable behavior known as urban hotspots. An increase in temperature and air pollution levels influence regional and global trends, so it is important to correlate urbanization's impact on climate change indicators. Sustainable development, mitigation, adaptation, and post-disaster planning discusses urban management and planning. This chapter aims to present the concepts mentioned in sustainable urban planning, to deal with the effects of climate change and the importance of Urban Heat Islands (UHI) in city planning. This chapter draws attention to the impact of land use and land cover change on UHI. Characterization, measurements, and impact assessment discussed in the present chapter.
