Abstract
Perylene-based organic frameworks have received much attention in organic Li-ion batteries (OLIBs) regime by virtue of their extended conjugation, flexibility and structural robustness. However, attaining stable cyclability is a major challenge due to their solubility issues and gradual decomposition. Herein, we report a simple strategy for realizing long-term cyclability by the introduction of glycine group into perylene tetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA). The resultant compound N,N′-bis(glycinyl)perylene diimide (H2PDI) exhibited outstanding cyclability and retained 64% of theoretical capacity even after 2000 cycles with almost 100% coulombic efficiency. To the best of our knowledge, this is the best cycling performance of perylene based materials reported for OLIBs till date.
