Abstract
This paper presents a thermodynamic analysis of a metal hydride heat pump working with a ZrMn2.8/ZrMn3.8 pair, taking into account the influence of heat and mass transfer effectiveness on system performance. Results show that mass transfer effectiveness significantly influences the performance of the system. For a given heating capacity, the alloy requirements are reduced at high mass transfer effectiveness. For a given cycle time, the thermal level of heat output improves with heat transfer effectiveness. © 1993.
