Augmenting phrase-based text representation with conceptual indexing for effective retrieval

The widespread use of Internet has helped the user Community to literally transcend the limitations of time and space with regard to information access. At the same time, it has thrown up several new challenges to the researchers, of which guaranteeing high quality Information retrieval is a significant one. Any approach to address this task is essentially linked to the method adopted for text representation. In this paper, we explore the effect of migrating from the current keyword-based approach to a keyphrase-based approach, augmented by conceptual indexing, so that the most appropriate documents are retrieved In response to a query.
