RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FRICTION FACTOR AND ENERGY SLOPE AT INCIPIENT MOTION OF SEDIMENT PARTICLES.

The aim of this paper is to bring out a direct relationship between Darcy-Weisbach friction factor, and energy slope, along with the other variables like submerged unit weight of the sediment particles, and unit weight of fluid etc. It is shown that such an equation could be obtained indirectly by using the classical data of Nikuradse on sand roughened pipes and the data used on critical shear stress of bed particles while establishing the Shields' curve.
