Abstract
Investigations have been carried out to study the effect of mean stress and temperature on the fatigue behavior of alpha brass. Introduction of mean stress reduces the fatigue life of the material, the reduction being very much pronounced in the temperature region of 0.5 Tm. Theoretical analysis based on hysteresis energy yields relations which describe well the experimental findings. © 1978 Society for Experimental Mechanics, Inc.
