Abstract
The effect of polypropylene fibre addition on explosive spalling resistance of 90 mass-% alumina low-cement self-flowing castables cured at various temperatures were studied. Increasing fibre addition and curing temperature increases the apparent porosity and average pores diameter. Samples subjected to testing for explosive spalling resistance revealed changes in cold crushing strength and modulus of elasticity. Increasing the amount of polypropylene fibre as well as the curing temperature was found to increase resistance to explosive spalling.
