Abstract
Aluminium alloys are extensively used in ground and aerospace applications in view of their high strength, low weight, excellent fabricability and corrosion resistance. However success in the production of welded aluminium alloy structures or special component, to reap the highest advantages depends mostly upon the correct joint design, ultra cleaning procedures, welding parameters and environmental conditions before and during welding and application of effective post weld heat treatment. This paper presents the effects of the weld joint design, process and environmental conditions on the mechanical properties of AFNOR 7020 alloy weldments using in as welded and PWHT conditions AA 5356 filler alloy.
