Abstract
Flow studies within the tip gap and at the exit of a linear turbine cascade are made with miniature probes. The results are presented in the form of contours of local loss coefficient, velocity coefficient and mass averaged parameters. The tip clearance vortex shows its presence at 25% of axial chord from the leading edge and the vortex moved into the passage at 70% of the axial chord from the leading edge. The total velocity is more or less uniform within the tip gap and it continuously increases from inlet to 70% of the axial chord from the leading edge. The contraction and discharge coefficients calculated from the experimental values agreed very well with the theoretical models.
