A numerical model including bridge vehicle interaction effects for probabilistic assessment of stress spectrum in highway bridges

An efficient numerical model for prediction of stress histogram in highway bridges is presented. Stochastic nature of traffic and vehicle parameters as well as various key factors influencing the dynamic response of highway bridges such as ride surface quality, travel speed, interaction between bridge and vehicles, multiple presence etc are accounted for in the development of model. Efficiency of the model is demonstrated for the case of a short span steel concrete composite highway bridge. © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group.
