Abstract
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a friction-based solid phase joining process especially used to join high quality aircraft and aerospace aluminium alloys such as AA2024, AA7075. The aim of this study is to analyze the characterization of weld joint of aluminium alloy AA7075 T651 made by a newly developed stellite stir tool. Stellite stir tool can withstand at elevated temperature and having high hot hardness compared to the existing material such as H13 stir tool. Also, this process reduces the cost and increase the life span of the tool. The analysis is made using Stellite cobalt based alloy stir tool using tensile test, hardness test and SEM confirms that the joints are having good properties.
