Abstract
Metal hydride batteries exhibit features favourable over conventional lead-acid batteries or nickel-cadmium cells. This review focusses on three aspects, namely the choice and composition of the metal hydride negative electrodes, the surface modification of these electrodes by coatings and the effect of binders on the electrochemical characteristics of possible cells from them. Metal hydride batteries have a promising future and this presentation reviews the current status of this technological development.
